Housing Safety Net Program Finds Homes for 107 Families

Seattle –  September 11 - Lifelong is proud of what we have accomplished through the Lifelong Housing Safety Net to help households impacted by the foreclosure crisis who also have a family member living with a chronic illness. This partnership with Solid Ground was created as a time-limited intervention through the one-time funds made available by the Attorney Generals’ settlement with lenders.

The program has helped 107 households (236 individuals) increase their housing and financial stability through housing search assistance, linkages to mainstream resources and medical benefits, financial education and coaching, and financial support for obtaining and stabilizing permanent housing. While the funding has been utilized, the program’s success has illuminated a critical community need particularly for households who are experiencing housing instability and are also coping with the barriers and challenges faced when living with a chronic illness.

Lifelong and Solid Ground are grateful to the Attorney General’s Office for its financial support and to our many community partners, and staff involved in this project for their dedication and service to the needs of the many families in our region living with the combination of sickness, disease  and housing instability.
