Lifelong AIDS Alliance is a non-profit community agency committed to preventing the spread of HIV, providing practical support services and advocating for those whose lives are affected by HIV and AIDS. The Evergreen Health Insurance Program (EHIP) is a state-wide program that pays medical insurance premiums for people living with HIV/AIDS in order that they may maintain access to healthcare and life-saving medications.
DEFINITION:
The Insurance Clerk position is a member of the Operations staff of the Evergreen Health Insurance Program (EHIP) at Lifelong AIDS Alliance. This position is responsible for various administrative duties as assigned and general project work in support of the program, including database maintenance, client chart maintenance, processing mail, and billing adjustments. The Insurance Advocate reports to the Insurance Program Manager. This is a full-time, non-exempt, union, regular position.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conduct database projects as assigned. A high-volume data entry, detailed review, and comparison of information for data clean-up project is expected to take a significant portion of time during the first year of hire.
2. Performs routine maintenance of client charts, accurately filing all documents, billings, correspondence, and file archiving.
3. Create new and returning client files in both physical and electronic format, in a timely and accurate fashion.
4. Assist in processing incoming insurance bills for clients, including the quarterly WSHIP billings. Assist in the investigation of client accounts and setting up adjustment payments or rate changes, as needed.
5. Process incoming and outgoing departmental mail. This includes forwarding client mail with database entry, investigating returned mail, and handling any incoming checks.
6. Conduct enrollment verifications with insurance companies.
7. Take and distribute minutes for weekly departmental meetings as needed.
8. Communicate with insurance companies, case managers, clients, and community partners as needed to perform duties of the position.
9. Be cross-trained on relevant duties of the Insurance Program Coordinator and be available to cover those duties when necessary.
10. Provide accurate and timely reporting to the Department of Health and other evaluating agencies as needed.
11. Supervise volunteers as needed.
12. Work as part of the EHIP team and contribute to team goals and projects.
13. Provide good internal and external customer service to clients, HIV case managers, insurance companies, EIP, and community partners.
14. Maintain strict confidentiality of financial, donor, and client records.
15. May assist with other project work and duties as assigned.

8. Demonstrate ability to work with people of diverse socio-economic backgrounds, ethnicities, beliefs, sexual
orientation and lifestyle.
9. Maintain confidentiality of financial, donor and client records.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Associates Degree or equivalent experience.
• Two or more years of relevant experience.
• 50 WPM accurate keystroke competency; 10-key by touch.
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
• Able to organize, prioritize multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a time-sensitive environment.
• Demonstrated skills and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of applications, including Excel, Access, and Word.
• Experience working with MS Dynamics, Solomon, or similar accounting software a plus.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both verbal and written form.
• Proven ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• Ability to develop good working relationships with internal and external customers.
• Ability to understand and model the mission and ethics of Lifelong AIDS Alliance and EHIP.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
